Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is a potentially curative intervention for a number of malignant and non-malignant hematologic indications not amenable to treatment with standard therapies. Acute graft versus host disease (aGVHD) is a common, potentially life-threatening complication of allo-HCT in which immune cells from the graft attack host tissues, with manifestations ranging from mild to severe damage to the skin, gastrointestinal tract, and liver.
