Grants for Immunobiology Research

The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) makes research grants available to support immunobiology research studies approved by the CIBMTR Immunobiology Working Committee (IBWC).

Observational studies approved by the CIBMTR IBWC are eligible for funding.

How may grants be used?

Grants are not intended to provide comprehensive support. However, they may be used to subsidize direct costs:

  • Additional lab tests
  • Collection of samples
  • Costs associated with obtaining research samples from the NMDP Research Sample Repository

What are the requirements and review process?

  1. Grant requests may be up to $35,000 and submitted using the NMDP Immunobiology Research Grant Request Form (DOC).
  2. Applications are reviewed twice annually. The application deadlines are April 15 and October 15.
  3. All applications meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered during each review period. Award notifications are distributed within several weeks of review.
  4. Requests are reviewed by NMDP staff and the chairs of the CIBMTR IBWC.
  5. Awards will be based on funds available, scientific merit and appropriateness based on NMDP and CIBMTR IBWC research priorities.
  6. Studies receiving funding support will be required to make adequate progress and abide by timelines and reporting requests established by the IBWC.
