The BMT Summary Slides with Guide

Report on State of the Art
in Blood and Marrow Transplantation

Web Presentation Part 1
Focuses on trends in the use of HSCT — indications, recipient age, graft sources and transplant regimens.

Web Presentation Part 2
Summarizes outcome of transplants focusing on survival and disease-free survival.

Since 1972 the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) has collected and analyzed outcome data from blood and marrow transplant centers worldwide. There are more than 390 active centers that register patients with us. The CIBMTR database has information for about 40% of all the allogeneic transplants done since 1970. In 1991, we also began collecting outcome data on autotransplants from centers in North and South America. More than 400 centers register patients receiving autologous transplants. Our database has information for about 60% of autotransplants carried out in North and South America since 1989. Because centers may register autologous or allogeneic transplants independently, we have more than 450 active centers.

Using these data, the Statistical Center periodically prepares and distributes graphics summarizing current use and outcome of allogeneic and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplants (SCT). This year's Summary Slides have been divided into two parts.

Part I is described on pages 5-9 of the December 2007 issue (PDF) and Part II is described on pages 5-10 of the December 2006 issue (PDF). Both are also viewable as a Web Presentation (see links above).
