Private Contributions to the CIBMTR
The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) needs your help to continue our life-saving research in blood and marrow transplantation for the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin disease, solid tumors and other life-threatening diseases. The Center is proud of the support we receive from the National Cancer Institute, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. However, private contributions are essential for the Center to continue our work. We invite you to participate as a contributor in one of the following fund-raising programs:
CIBMTR General Support Fund
Contributions to this program help to support general operations. Such funds significantly enhance our ability to maintain and develop our database in order to insure the scientific integrity of our research program. Additionally, these funds allow us to respond in a timely manner to emerging areas of research which are not supported by our federal funding. Donors may wish to make their gift in honor or in memory of a special person.
CIBMTR Mortimer M. Bortin Endowment
The Mortimer M. Bortin Endowment supports visits to the Center by clinical and basic scientists from participating centers to work on research projects using CIBMTR data. Additionally, the fund is used for a lectureship program and an awards program for outstanding research in bone marrow transplantation. The fund was established to honor Dr. Bortin's commitment to international scientific collaboration. Dr. Bortin was one of the founders of the IBMTR and served as its Scientific Director from 1972-1994. Donors may wish to make their gift in honor or in memory of a special person.
CIBMTR Special Project Funding
Contributions to this program help to support specific areas of research which may be of special interest to the donor. The CIBMTR is currently coordinating more than 80 studies on a wide range of diseases and transplant-related topics. These studies are being used to improve transplant outcomes for leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, solid tumors, neuroblastoma, severe aplastic anemia, sickle cell disease, Fanconi anemia, congenital immune deficiencies and congenital metabolic disorders.
CIBMTR Annual Meeting Support
Contributions to this program support the CIBMTR Annual Meeting. This educational conference focuses on timely issues in blood and marrow transplantation. Its program includes scientific plenary sessions, poster sessions and comprehensive workshops. The meeting provides exhibiting opportunities for corporations with an interest in blood and marrow transplantation as well as corporate-supported satellite sessions.
Foundation and Corporate Support Listing of the CIBMTR
All of us at the CIBMTR thank the many contributors who have joined our international collaboration for research in blood and marrow transplantation. Private support for the Center continues to be vitally important since federal grants cover only 60 percent of the Statistical Center's budget. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Medical College of Wisconsin; the National Cancer Institute; the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease; the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute; the Department of Defense; and the generosity of those non-federal foundations and corporations
How do I make a gift to help support the CIBMTR?
If you would like to make a gift to the CIBMTR, please make your check payable to The Medical College of Wisconsin/CIBMTR. Contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
