CIBMTR Advisory Committee
Advisory Committee members and officers are elected by the CIBMTR Assembly. In addition, appointments to this committee include family/patient representatives and individuals with expertise in donor selection and graft collection and manipulation, information technology, business and bioethics. Representatives from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) are also ex-officio members. This committee is responsible for:
- Overseeing all scientific activities of the CIBMTR;
- Reviewing policies of the organization including use of CIBMTR data;
- Reviewing progress of ongoing studies including publications reports; and
- Participating and/or advising in fund-raising activities.
Meetings of the Advisory Committee are conducted twice annually at least one of which is during the BMT Tandem Meetings. Additional meetings are held by conference call as necessary. Meetings are open to the public and to federal representatives except during rare occasions when deliberations pose a conflict of interest such as in center confidentiality.
